Our core principle: We collect no data. Everything happens on your device. Your screenshots never leave your computer.

What This Extension Does

One Screenshot is a Chrome browser extension that allows you to:

• Capture portions of web pages visible in your browser
• Edit captured screenshots with styling options (backgrounds, padding, shadows, rounded corners)
• Download the edited screenshots to your computer

Permissions We Request and Why

Chrome requires us to declare all permissions the extension uses. Here's what we request and why:

activeTab

Allows the extension to access the active tab when you click the extension icon. This is necessary to capture the content you select.

scripting

Allows the extension to run code that enables the screenshot selection interface. This code only runs when you actively use the extension.

storage

Allows the extension to store your preferences (like default styling options, window size preferences, etc.) locally on your computer. All data is stored in chrome.storage.local—nothing is sent to any server.

downloads

Allows the extension to save screenshots to your computer when you click "Download".

<all_urls>

Allows the extension to run on any website. This is necessary because you may want to capture screenshots from any page you visit.

Data We Collect

We collect no data.

The extension does not:

• Send screenshots to any server
• Track which websites you visit
• Collect analytics or usage data
• Store screenshots permanently (only temporarily in memory during editing)
• Share information with third parties
• Use cookies or tracking pixels

How Screenshots Are Handled

Screenshots exist only on your device:

• During editing: Screenshots are temporarily held in your browser's memory while you make edits
• After download: The screenshot file is saved to your Downloads folder (or location you choose) on your computer
• When closed: Temporary data is cleared from memory

Screenshots are never sent to our servers, any third-party service, or the internet.

User Preferences & Settings

Your styling preferences (default background colors, padding sizes, shadow styles, etc.) are stored locally using Chrome's storage.local API. This data:

• Stays on your computer
• Is never sent anywhere
• Is tied to your user profile on this device
• Can be cleared by uninstalling the extension or clearing Chrome's extension data

Future Changes

In the future, we may offer an optional online editing feature where you can edit screenshots on onescreenshot.com. If this happens:

• It will be entirely optional
• You will explicitly choose to upload a screenshot
• You will see a new privacy policy before using that feature
• Local editing will always remain available

Security

Since all processing happens locally on your device, your screenshots are as secure as your computer. We recommend:

• Keeping your browser and OS updated
• Using strong passwords and security practices on your device

Your Rights

Because we don't collect data:

• There is no personal data to request or delete from us
• You have complete control over your screenshots on your device
• You can uninstall the extension at any time

Third-Party Services

The extension does not use third-party analytics, crash reporting, or tracking services. We don't know who uses the extension or how often.
